Foundation Armor penetrating sealers and water repellents can be used to seal both interior and exterior cinderblock and concrete block walls. They chemically react below the surface without changing the look or color of the block, and they won’t leave behind a visible surface film. Foundation Armor penetrating sealers can be used to:
Penetrating sealers should not be used to waterproof below grade cinderblock or concrete block. If you have issues with water coming through the block, grout lines, or where the floor and wall meet, other waterproofing methods may be required. Penetrating sealers should be used to help reduce and prevent issues, but not stop them. In many cases, exterior waterproofing, grout and crack repair, may be required. Still have questions? Densifiers and surface hardeners are designed to increase the strength and density of the concrete by up to 45%. They penetrate in order to react with the free lime and calcium already in the concrete to form a permanent Calcium Silicate Hydrate (CSH) structure within the pores. The size of the barrier formed will increase with coats and once hardened, will work to slow down the movement of water and increase the density of the concrete block and grout.

Water repellent sealers are designed to repel water and other liquids from the surface. When applied to a block retaining wall, water repellent sealers will reduce surface water absorption by up to 85-95% and help to reduce deterioration, mold and mildew, and efflorescence. When applied below grade, water repellent sealers will help to reduce the movement of moisture by up to 2-3 LBS.
