The best concrete sealer for your driveway depends on the type of concrete driveway you have and your reason for sealing. Use the information below to find the best concrete driveway sealer.

Invisible Penetrating Driveway Sealers

If you want to protect your concrete driveway without changing the look or color, you want to use a penetrating sealer. Penetrating sealers are designed to penetrate into the concrete and work entirely below the surface without leaving behind a film or coating.

The two most common categories of penetrating sealers are concrete densifiers and concrete water repellents.

Densifiers: Densifiers penetrate into the concrete and chemically react to for a Calcium Silicate Structure (hardened crystalline strucutre) within the pores. Densifiers should only be used if you are looking to increase the density and surface strength of the concrete. Densifiers do not bead water and offer little to know protection against the damage caused by water absorption. If you apply a densifier to your concrete driveway it is suggested to follow with the application of a water repellent so that your driveway is strengthened and protected. In the densifier category you can go with the Armor S2000 (concentrated sodium silicate densifier) or Armor L3000 (concentrated lithium silicate sealer). The difference being the L3000 will react faster and an penetrate dense surfaces easier. As far as performance, the CSH structure created is identical.

Water Repellents: Water repellent sealers, most commonly Silane-Siloxane blend sealers, penetrate into the concrete and chemically react to form a hydrophobic barrier within the surface pores. When water and other liquids come into contact with a driveway sealed with a water repellent sealer it will cause the water and other liquids to bead off the surface. By reducing water absorption on the surface, a variety of issues are reduced and prevented such as cracking, spalling, pitting, staining, ice damage, salt damage, and the growth of mold and mildew. In the water repellent category you can go with the Armor SX5000 (Department of Transportation approved solvent based silane-siloxane water repellent) or the Armor SX5000 WB (water based silane-siloxane water repellent sealer).

Wet Look and High Gloss Driveway Sealers

While wet look and high gloss products are clumped into the sealer category, they are actually coatings because they leave behind a surface film. While they penetrate in order to bond, the surface film left behind is visible with a satin sheen, wet look, or high gloss.

Armor AR350: Wet look sealer designed to give substrates the appearance of being "wet". Enhances with a satin sheen finish, available in clear and color options.

Armor AR500: High gloss pure acrylic sealer designed to enhance and protect interior and exterior concrete and paver surfaces.

Armor AX25:Siloxane infused high gloss acrylic sealer designed to enhance and protect interior and exterior concrete and paver surfaces.

Armor LV25 and WB25: High gloss acrylic cure and seals designed to cure and seal interior and exterior concrete surfaces.
