Penetrating Department of Transportation approved water repellent sealer for unsealed concrete, brick, and masonry.
The Armor SX5000 WB is a Department of Transportation approved water-based penetrating water repellent sealer. It penetrates deep into the substrate where it chemically reacts to form a hydrophobic barrier within the pores that reduces surface water absorption by up to 95%.
The Armor SX5000 WB is made from high quality, non-recycled, US manufactured resins. It is designed for unsealed concrete, brick, pavers, natural stone, and porous masonry. It works entirely below the surface, won’t change the look or color of the substrate, and won’t leave a surface film. By reducing surface water absorption, cracking, spalling, pitting, mold, mildew, algae, staining, and other damage and deterioration caused by surface water absorption will also be reduced.
The Armor SX5000 WB is a great choice for a variety of interior and exterior concrete applications, including:
The SX5000 WB can be applied to a variety of interior and exterior concrete surfaces, including:
The Armor SX5000 WB is designed specifically to be used on unsealed concrete, brick, and masonry. It can’t be applied to surfaces recently applied with a water repellent sealer, or surfaces previously sealed with a film-forming sealer or coating.
The Armor SX5000 WB is designed to work entirely below the surface. It will not change the look or color of the substrate and it will not leave a visible surface film.
If you are looking for a wet look, low gloss, or high gloss, consider instead the Armor WL550 for a matte wet look, the Armor AR350 for a low gloss wet look, or the Armor AR500 for a high gloss wet look.
When properly applied, the Armor SX5000 WB can provide up to 7-10 years of life on an exterior surface before the need to recoat.
Water Bead: Surface water beading will not occur on all surfaces. While some surfaces may experience an instantaneous bead, others won’t experience a surface water bead at all. Surface water beading is not a sealer benefit. Surface water bead is caused from resin build-up on the surface. Once the resin build-up goes away, so will the bead. The Armor SX5000 WB is designed to work entirely below the surface so its benefits are made visible through performance. You will find sealed surfaces dry faster, are easier to clean, and experience less damage caused by freeze-thaw cycles and de-icing salts.
Looking for a solvent based penetrating sealer? Instead, consider the Armor SX5000.
The Armor SX5000 WB should be applied with an HVLP pump sprayer. For best results, avoid applying with a roller. For consistent coverage, two coats should be applied back to back, while the surface is still wet.
Time of Day
To allow for proper absorption and reaction, the Armor SX5000 WB should only be applied in the early evening (around 5 PM or later) when air and surface temperatures are declining, and when the sun is no longer positioned over the surface.
The Armor SX5000 WB should be applied to a completely clean and dry surface. If the surface was cleaned with water or pressure washed prior to application, allow the surface to dry for at least 24 hours before sealing. While the surface may appear dry and feel dry to touch, water below the surface trapped in the pores can cause the same issues. While pressure washing the surface is typically sufficient, spot treatment may be necessary for deep or older stains. If the surface is smooth troweled, or does not easily accept water, acid etching may be required prior to applying sealer. It is always suggested to apply the Armor SX5000 WB to a test area to verify absorption, coverage, compatibility, and project suitability.
The Armor SX5000 WB is designed specifically for unsealed concrete and masonry surfaces. Do not apply this product over a surface recently sealed with a water repellent sealer, or previously sealed with a film-forming sealer or coating.

Porous Surfaces: Up to 175 FT2/gallon in one coat.
Smooth Surfaces (once properly prepped): Up to 200-225 FT2/gallon in one coat.
Coverage will vary depending on porosity, surface condition, application method, and the amount of material applied by the applicator. The above coverage rates are estimates and will vary. Two coats are suggested for even coverage and appearance.
