The Foundation Armor concrete sealer is a clear, deep penetrating capillary sealer (sodium silicate) that stops the wicking process in concrete. It reacts with the free lime in concrete and forms and expanded crystalline structure beneath the surface. The Foundation Armor concrete sealer chemically reacts with the free lime (created when concrete cures) and becomes a silicate mineral. Silicate mineral the same mineral produced by the hydration of cement, which bonds, strengthens, and seals the concrete.

The Foundation Armor sealer can be applied to new or old concrete, and on vertical or horizontal surfaces. Our concrete sealer is perfect for below grade applications (it can not be pushed out, regardless of hydrostatic pressure). Once dried, our sealer will never peel, flake, or fade.

Concrete Sealer Coverage

The Foundation Armor concrete sealer can be used on poured concrete walls, and cinderblock or fieldstone foundations too (but there is a possibility that the blocks or stones will need to be repointed by a mason). The gallon of floor sealer needs to be mixed with four gallons of warm water. Once mixed, the sealer can cover approx. 1250 square feet. The 1250 square foot coverage is dependent upon how porous the surface area is. Typically, newer concrete (10-15 years old) is less porous (which means it absorbs less), so you will require less. The sealer is sold in concentrated form which allows you to use only what you need. The concentrated sealer mixes 1 Part Sealer to 4 Parts warm water.

Non-Slippery, Paintable Surface

The Foundation Armor concrete sealer does not leave a film or color on the surface. The sealed surface does not become water-repellent or slippery when wet. It will absorb water drops (it “wets”) but a large puddle will stay, because the concrete is waterproof. The surface remains suitable for paints or adhesives, thinset, patching, resurfacing, levelers, and more.

2. How many coats does the sealer require? 1 coat.
3. How deep does the sealer penetrate? Up to 4 inches to 6 inches.
4. How often do you have to re-apply the sealer? Never. You apply one coat, once in a lifetime.
5. What type of sealer is it? Sodium Silicate – Water Based – Capillary Sealer.
6. Does the sealer stop water and radon? Yes. Our concrete sealer stops water, insects, vapors, and radon gas.
7. Can the sealer be used where hydrostatic pressure is present? Yes.

Concrete Sealer Application Instructions

Surface Preparation

Surfaces must be clean and sound. Do not apply over previously sealed or coated concrete. Remove dirt, greases, oil, and any foreign matter.

Mixing

Mix 1 Part Sealer with 4 Parts warm-hot water. Stir until mixed.

Application

Spray on surface generously – you must make sure that all concrete has been sprayed and that the concrete is saturated. Let dry for 24 hours and wipe up any puddles that remain.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry location.
